Starting Insanity

I just finished my first Insanity Fit Test, the first workout you do when beginning BeachBody’s Insanity home workout program. The Fit Test is a way to measure your progress over 60 days. It’s 8 exercises, completed over about a 30 minute time period, with breaks in between. It’s tough, and I was dripping sweat within 15 minutes.

Insanity is a High Intensity Interval Training workout, full of cardio exercises. It is meant to push you to your maximum potential, seeing huge results in 60 days.

If you want more information, or are ready to try it yourself, or with some friends, you can go to my website: BeachBody

Shakeology

This is a healthy cleanse that Steve Edwards recommends on his blog (Click here). Steve is a nationally recognized fitness expert who oversees Beachbody’s fitness and diet program development, and he serves as Fitness Advisor for our BeachBody message boards.

This cleanse was put together by Mike Karpenko, and incorporates Beachbody’s hottest product, Shakeology.

This is a performance-oriented system…It’s not the Master Cleanse. The goal is to promote flushing junk from your system and regulating hydration levels. It’s calorically restricted to be sure. But in its 1500 or so calories will be more nutrients than most people get by eating well over twice that amount. The key is caloric efficiency; getting the most nutrients possible out of the fewest number of calories. It’s too fat restrictive for a lifestyle plan, but perfect for a three day jump-start to looking and feeling better.

People are getting great results with this! Lose weight, feel great!

Want to lose weight? Do this!

Tony (Horton, creator of P90X) was in the (BeachBody) chat room last night, and he told a story of a mother of 3 in her 40′s that wanted to lose 46 pounds. She ate well and did P90X, but only lost 17 (lbs), which is still good but she was disappointed, so this was his advice:

NEVER EAT AGAIN:

SODA
WHOLE DAIRY
ALL FRIED FOOD
PROCESSED MEAT
HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP
HYDROGENATED OILS AKA TRANS FATS

FOR DRAMATIC CHANGE: SUPER LEAN:

NO:
ALCOHOL
PROCESSED FOODS
COOKIES
CANDIES
DONUTS
FRENCH FRIES
WHITE BREAD
98.4% of all CEREALS

90% of diet should be HIGH FIBER< HIGH PROTEIN<WHOLE GRAIN<HEALTHY FATS

LOTS OF FRUIT AND VEGGIES

So this lady followed that plan and dropped the rest of her weight — about 50 pounds.

It takes dedication, commitment, and desire!  You can do it!

Travel Tip – Save $ and eat healthy

Chalene Johnson, creator of Turbo Jam, Turbo Kick, PiYo and more, made a video blog post about the George Foreman Grill.  She takes it with her and cooks in the hotel with it.  Duh!  You can cook fish, chicken, burgers, whatever on it!   We are always taking our food with us when we travel, both to save money, and also so we eat healthier (no greasy burgers and fries!)  Great $ saving tip!  Thanks, Chalene!

Give up the soda already!

This article, featured on the BeachBody website talks about the 10 reasons you should give up soda.

There’s NOTHING good in it.  Check out this link:  Drop the Pop

I am proud to say that I have committed to giving up soda.  I am now 5 days soda-free, and counting!

Just like BeachBody’s motto:  Decide. Commit. Succeed.    You can do it!

Half a workout?

Do you have some home video workouts that are collecting dust?  One of the reasons I used to let mine collect dust was because I was afraid of the “one-hour-workout.”

What if you got those videos out, and just did HALF of the workout, 3-5 times a week?  Don’t you think you’d still see results?  And if you were working out, punching, kicking, running, dancing, and ENJOYING it, maybe, just maybe, you won’t even know how much time has passed.  If doing half of a workout will keep you working out all week, then you’ve at least started moving, and you’re building a habit.  Once that habit is set in motion, and you start seeing results, you’ll want to build on those workouts, and finish the whole thing.

Go ahead. Try it.  Just do half of a workout!

If you need a workout, I’ve got plenty of great BeachBody home workouts for you!  www.beachbodycoach.com/pjroberts

Soda-Free

Today, I officially give up soda!  I’ve made the decision, and I’m going to stick to it.  I’m announcing it publicly (and to my family), so I will have accountability and support.  There is nothing healthy about soda. I’ve been “trying” to give it up for about 6 months, but by telling myself that I’ll slowly cut back.  No go.  I am just going to quit, today.  And I’ve gone all day without even wanting a soda.

There are recovered alcoholics and drug addicts that gave up their addiction.   I have no excuse not to go cold-turkey and just stop! This article from health.msn.com helps make it a logical choice, whether it’s diet or not.    The Truth About Diet Soda

What change are you making to live a healthier life?
